Virginia Tech

I believe we have "the rights to bare arms", but it is days like these that make me feel we're doing something wrong. I read an article today about how the $1 billion "don't have sex" campaign completely failed. Similarly, early this month I read an article on how the drug war is failing, or has failed if you think it is over... We waste so much time and effort on these things that, while they matter, they aren't killing anyone except for the people who aren't following the laws... especially since there is obviously nothing the government can do to prevent them from happening. Better gun control (I don't know... maybe even psychological tests before being able to buy them, and once a year there after) is something that is possible, and would save the innocent from suffering... I am just frustrated that things like this happen. Why do we make it so easy to kill other humans.

Laws are made to protect people's right... It is our right to LIVE, so protect us... Republicans care so much about being anti abortionists, "Pro Life", but then they support the death penalty and are against gun control... They seem confused to me... for those of you Republicans that don't fit into this generalization, good for you...

To all those affected by today's event, God bless!

Republicans?

Well, as most of you know, the last six years has been a very difficult time for us all... Our founding father's ideas on freedom (freedom for gay civil unions, freedom from the "Patriot" Act, the freedom to choose, and the freedom to find cures to diseases, freedom of being unable to leave poverty due to a inadequate minimum wage), separation of church and state (come on, can you really not teach science in schools?), and most importantly checks and balances (the republic's won't run everything) were all merely a story of a lost time... Now, with shift from an anarchical government to one where everyone is represented, it is my hope that there will be less scandals and cover ups, there will never again lose hundreds of millions of tax payer's dollars by illegally giving government contracts to companies without the lowest bid (<cough>, or to those companies in which government officials have conflicting interests), we'll get the troops the equipment that they need to help us get out of Iraq safely, without spawning a new generation of terrorists... We'll be able to make sure that our President doesn't throw away the Geneva conventions just because he thinks it is "a little ambiguous"... We'll be given the opportunity to help reduce pollutants so that our children won't live on a scorched planet... There is new hope that we'll be able to fix our nation's security problems to prevent another terrorist attack... I am not saying Democrats are better than Republicans (I don't have to say it), I am just saying that our country needed some help, and now there is a chance it'll get it... We as a country can finally know that our government is functioning like it was designed... "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness"

Vistor

My best friend (and yes, friend only) Megan is driving all the way from Atlanta to visit me here in Austin for a week... I very excited because she is really the only person I feel completely comfortable around... We have been best friends since I asked her out the second week of 9th grade... Our relationship only lasted about four days because she only dated me because she needed an excuse to dump the boyfriend she was with when I asked her... I forgive her though... we just became closer and closer after that and we even made the common pact of "if we are old and both single, lets get married..." Well, at the time the ripe old age of 26 seemed suitable... I mean that was 11 years from then... but now it seems so soon, and so it is an on going joke that we better hurry and find somebody so we don't get stuck together... Of course, if we ended up together, it won't be a completely horrible thing... he he... I mean, if only she weren't republican... but I am hoping she will grow out of that, but we'll see... I mean she is moving to the wonderful city of Democrats (Boston) for Grad School... maybe she'll see how miserable it is being a republican, or at least she'll want to try and fit in... he he... Anyways, recently she has been my lifeline during a rapidly changing time in my life... I'm balding (rapidly), I'm single, I feel old, I am starting Grad School, etc... She has always been able to help me step back and take a deep breath, she lets me realize everything is ok... So yeah, she is awesome... I just hope everyone in the world can be lucky enough to have a friend like her, because I know I'd be lost without her...

Goo Goo Dolls

That was awesome... I love democrats... Rosanne was funny... Micheal Moore was motivating to say the least... and the Goo Goo Dolls were great... only 5 songs... all from their newer CDs but still, great... Now I get to fail tomorrow because I haven't studied... oh well I am poooooooped so I gots to get to bed soon... I have stood in line for about 4 hours today... 2.5 hours at the court house waiting for my turn to vote and then 1.5 hours waiting for the show... we got to the very front of the line because my republican roommate knew a whole bunch of people that happened to be the first ones there... I got to sit on the floor seats about 6 rows back... directly behind the rich adults who funded the event... I couldn't have been closer unless I was a rich adult... pretty cool... I had a "invited" guest ticket since I am part of the College Democrats and so my roommate had to sit with her friends in not as good seats... I saw Jorge's sister there... and I talked to the usher for the hour or more I sat waiting for the show to begin... she was cool... a little weird though... at least I had somebody to talk to... In the line to vote, I debated a person voting for Nader, as well as a future lawyer... (aka Bush supporter...) it made time go a little faster... They were definitely the minority because, besides them, everyone who went on the bus over to the court house were Kerry supporters... I hope everyone gets out to vote tomorrow... especially if it is for Kerry, but even if your ignorant and going to vote for Bush, I believe in democracy so blah blah your vote should count too...

My hands hurt from clapping... I think I am going to go to the College Democrats "victory" convention tomorrow at a club from 7 to 2 am at least then I can complain to somebody who feels the same way if something goes horribly wrong tomorrow... or celebrate if everything goes well...

VOTE... or you don't matter...

I Voted

I voted! YAY ME! Go KERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY... about 80% of the people there were Kerry supporters... Gore won Leon County in the last election so I am sure Kerry will win this time because there are even more Kerry supporters then there were Gore... Now I am going to go see Goo Goo Dolls, Micheal Moore and Rosanne (the lady who had that show back when) for some good old Bush bashing... They chose here for there finally B) even though they were already here like 3 weeks ago... Ok, got to get ready to go... bye
