On-The-Road
Sitting here in my cube for the last time! Heading out tomorrow morning to get back to Tallahassee... I am extremely excited to get back... Amanda and I are going to revamp the kitchen and bathroom with fresh paint, new appliances, and a lot of hard work... It's going to be fun!
Despite my excitement at getting back, I am dreading the fact that school is starting soon after. The one class I was excited about was canceled, and now I am stuck taking Network Security and Internet Technology... They both sound fun, I know, but they are with my two least favorite teachers... My first B in 5 semesters was given to me by Dr. Aggarwal last semester; and now I am stuck taking another one of his classes... I put hours and hours into his last class, but all my effort got me a pathetic B... He is going to be really sick of me coming to his office everyday trying to figure out what it is he is looking for... Every one of his tests was a different format, and all of them tested on the most random and pointless, having nothing to do with any of the homework, and little-to-nothing to do with what he talked about in class...
The other professor I'll be "learning" from is Dr. van Engelen... He was the professor for one of the most boring classes I have ever taken, Programming Languages... I don't know if it was his teaching method, or if it was just the subject... I am hoping it was the subject because I am really looking forward to Internet Technology... Now, I can't say that either professor is not knowledgeable, in fact, I would say they are extremely smart, but that doesn't mean that they are good at teaching... Hopefully this time around I'll have a better experience with both of them... Either way, I am up to the challenge...

Physics
So, last night my cousin needed help with his Physics homework, and so I volunteered... I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it... Physics is such a cool science! If you are ever bored late at night, turn PBS on, and chances are that the NOVA series about String Theory will be on... It is very hard to turn away from. You should really check it out...

Heinz
For those of you who don't know me, you may not understand, but for everyone else, I think you will understand my excitement... Heinz Ketchup has a website that lets you customize your own Ketchup bottle! Not only am I obsessed with Heinz, I am also obsessed with customizing... They must have known people like me exist... I got a glass bottle so I can refill it for years of enjoyment... After long-hard-thought, I decided that my label would say: "Nikk's Bottle! GET YOUR OWN!"... I just can't wait until Claussen pickles does something similar!
Speaking of my brand loyalty when it comes to food, my Aunt went to New York last week... While she was there she went to the Hershey's store and saw a piggy bank in the shape of a Hershey's chocolate syrup bottle! She was nice enough to get it for me and now I can start putting money in it so I can fuel my addiction to chocolate milk... Pretty awesome of her!

Tallahassee
It's been almost 11 weeks since I was last in Tallahassee, but luckily there is only a week and a half until I am back again... Every day seems that much longer, and that much harder to get through... I don't remember the last time I was as homesick as I am now. I like Austin, but I guess I just never let myself completely settle down to make it feel like home. I miss my dog, my bed, my kitchen, my parking spot, my alarm clock, (you get the point by now)... Most importantly though, I miss my girlfriend Amanda! I'm just glad she has stuck with me even though we are 900 miles apart!

I am proud of what I accomplished for Freescale this Summer. Once again impressing myself... I can definitely see the my programming skill improving (at least in Visual Basic) which is a good thing... I like working on projects that I can see the results... I like knowing that it is making somebody's day go by with less obstacles... I hope when I graduate, and find a job, that I get the same enjoyment out of it... It'd be nice if I could feel this way about Graduate School as well, but it just feels so pointless because on-the-job experience seems much more valuable... We'll see.
My cousin April is having another baby! I am so excited, and I think it helps contribute to my longing for home (because she too is from Tallahassee)... She sent a great picture out to let the family know... The picture to the right is her daughter (my God-daughter!) I love her more then can be described...

Genealogy
I have added a genealogy section, it still needs some work, but I haven't quite decided how, or what, to display... I don't want everything there because then I can run into my own research later down the line and that makes it 10 times more difficult.
I know most visitors won't care about my genealogy, but since I am in the top 10 in a google search for "Folts", and I care about my genealogy, I thought it was a smart idea to have at least some information about it on my site.
If you have any suggestions on what my site is missing (sections I should add, things that are nifty), let me know...

Redesign
I know it has been a long time since I did any work on my website, but I was getting really bored with the old design layout, and have learned a little more since then, so I decided to do a complete redesign... I have a lot more content then before, much more dynamic, and much cleaner look and feel... I have complied with every standard I can think of, and in doing so, this site should work on any browser, but of course there are always a few that cause problems...
The new design has only been tested with Internet Explorer 6.0+ and Firefox 1.5+... If you don't have either one of these browsers, then let me know if you run into any problems. I may download Opera soon, but don't know if it is worth it.
